When it comes to healthy eating, you can't get enough of salad. Bring the salad game to Asia with this quick and easy Tuna Spring Mix Salad with Roasted Sesame Dressing. It's creamy with the healthy fats. The shallot and roasted sesame seeds give it a refreshing fragrant as well as crunch.
Roasted Sesame Dressing:
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp minced Shallot
- 5 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp roasted sesame seeds
- 2 Tsp soy sauce
- 1-2 Tsp sugar or honey for healthier kick so in this recipe I will use honey
- 1/2 Tsp salt
- 2 Tsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp Vinegar- you can use normal or rice Vinegar
Instructions:
1. Roast your sesame seeds- either using a pan on medium low heat or for time sake- using a microwave ( you have to check every 30 sec and make sure you are not burning the seeds :P )
2. Clean your shallot & mince it by busting out your best knife in the kitchen and making a series of vertical cuts along the shallot but leave the root part to keep the strips intact. Using your finger to keep the strip close to one another on the cutting board. Then you cut against the strips right in the middle of the shallot and make a series of cuts at a 90 degree angle to your vertical cuts that are also the same wide as your vertical cuts. Cutting this in a circular motion with the tip of your knife slice the far end of the shallot, the bottom end will slice the closest end of the shallot to you, and your knife always has a part that never leave the cutting board. This will allow every piece will be sliced in a single motion.
3. Put all ingredients in a container, and mix well.
And here is the result- I made the portion quadruple :P
I then put some Spring Mix Salad in a bowl and put enough dressing on top then toss salad
Put a spoon full of tuna on top as well as some slices of tomato or some cherry tomatoes and Voilà!
Enjoy your Tuna Spring Mix Salad with Roasted Sesame Dressing !
P/s: Put whatever toppings your like. It can be raisin, dice apple for a crunch, or boiled egg.
